Moto Rumi
An Italian Masterpiece
Moto Rumi
Available only in the 50 cc displacement, it was the first Aprilia scooter with a plastic body, presented to the public in September 1990 and entering production in October of the same year.
It remained on the market until 2000, undergoing minor styling changes. It achieved enormous success, so much so that in the first two years of production the company doubled its overall sales.
The Minarelli engine was a 49 cc, air-cooled single-cylinder two-stroke.
In 1992 a major update was a new linkage fork with double shock absorber which improved comfort and handling. The mainstand was also new and the paintwork was improved.
In 1993, overall sales reached 70 thousand units from the launch, and Aprilia added to the range the GL and GLE models which also underwent aesthetic updates with a new fairing and mirrors. The exhaust system was also revised with a sportier note. The GLE model features a catalytic converter as standard.
