By 1916 John Marston's company had turned to wartime production and the Standard model was produced for the British War Department designated a General Service model, as indicated by "GS" stamped on the engine.

This General Service model is presented in Sunbeam's traditional livery of black highlighted in gold and is fitted with cast aluminium footboards and Lucas electic lighting.
