1994 RSV250

Max Biaggi's 1994 championship winning Aprilia RSV 250. The engine in the bike is the factory motor used for all the '94 season except the final race. As Biaggi had won the title with a round to spare he tested the new '95 motor (on the stand) in the race. He also changed his race number from 4 to 1 for the final round. His season tally included five victories, four 2nds and a 3rd. Output 105hp at 12,700rpm. Dry weight 100kg.

1997 RSW-2 430 GP

Aprilia designer/engineer Jan Witteveen was the first to take advantage of the rules which allowed twin-cylinder motorcycles to have a minimum weight of 105kg (compared to the four-cylinder machines's 130kg. Honda followed in 1996 with the NSR500V). The company began its premier class campaign in 1994 with basically their RSV250 V-twin enlarged to 410cc and Loris Reggiani as the rider. For 1996 a dedicated chassis was used (not a modified 250 unit) and capacity grew to 430cc and then to 460cc half way through 1997. After using 1998 as a development year the team returned for the '99 season with Tetsuya Harada on a bike now at 498cc. He was joined by Jeremy McWilliams for 2000. Doriano Romboni's 1997 430cc bike scored Aprilia's first 500cc class podium - a 3rd at Assen. 125hp. Dry weight 110kg.

1997 RS125 R

Aprilia entered the World Championships in 1976 in the 125cc Motocross class and continued until 1981 without much success. They switched to the 250cc GP class in 1985, then also the 125cc class in 1988 with Alessandro Gramigni winning their first GP in 1991 and the title the following year. They went on to win 10 125cc and 9 250cc championships. Valentino Rossi won his first championship on a 1997 RS125 R.

1998 125 RS

The 125cc RS was produced in various versions from 1992 to 2005. A Rossi replica was presented in 1998. The single cylinder 125cc 2-stroke made approximately 15hp and propelled the 126kg machine to a top speed of just over 160kph.

1999 125 RS

The 125cc RS was produced in various versions from 1992 to 2005. The '99 model single cylinder 125cc 2-stroke made approximately 15hp and propelled the 126kg machine to a top speed of just over 160kph.

1999 1000 RSV Mille

The RSV was introduced in 1998 to much acclaim. This is the basically unchanged 1999 model. The 998cc 60° V-twin made 128hp at 9,300rpm. Dry weight 189kg. Top speed of 267kph.

1999 250 RS

Inspired by Max Biaggi's 1994 250cc World Championship, Aprilia introduced the (barely) road going RS250 the same year. Using a modified 2-stroke V-twin supplied by Suzuki in their own twin spar alloy frame the RS250 remained in production until 2004, with a major update happening in 1998. 55hp at 11,000rpm. Wet weight 168kg. Top speed 203kph.

1999 650 Pegaso Cube

The 650cc Pegaso Cube was a long running model first introduced in 1997 using a Rotax engine featuring a 5 valve, radial head (the same motor with a conventional 4 valve head was used in the BMW F650) and dual carbs. This was built until 2000 when the EFI version took over until the Cube was replaced by the Yamaha-powered Strada in 2005. Depending on the year and country it was sold in, the panniers & top box were standard equipment. 49hp at 6,300rpm. Wet weight 201kg. Top speed of 166kph.

2000 650 Starck 6.5

Designed by Philippe Starck and introduced in 1995 it was discontinued in 1997, then made available again in 1999 until it was finally dropped in 2002. The Rotax 650cc motor made 42hp and the bike weighed 150kg. The attention to detail in the design is quite amazing.

2000 RSW-2 500 GP

Aprilia began its premier class campaign in 1994 with basically their RSV250 V-twin enlarged to 410cc. During 1996 capacity grew to 430cc and the to 460cc half way through 1997. After using 1998 as a development year the team returned for the '99 season with Tetsuya Harada on a bike now at 498cc. He was joined by Jeremy McWilliams for 2000 and the pair finished in 14th & 16th positions at the end of the year (although McWilliams did score two 3rd places). This is Harada's 2000 bike. 140hp at 11,500rpm. Dry weight 110kg.

2001 1000 CapoNord

Introduced in 2001, the ETV CapoNord was Aprilia's entry into the soft off-roader market. The slightly detuned RSV motor made 98hp. All new bodywork was used with basically the same frame as the RSV. Weight 215kg. Top speed 225kph.

2001 1000 RSV

The first revision to the standard RSV came in 2001 with a new fairing design and a smaller capacity fuel tank - now plastic. Power was raised by 5hp. Upgraded brakes & revised steering geometry completed the list of new features.

2002 1000 RSV Mille

2002 Aprilia RSV Mille. Introduced in 1998 the RSV used a Rotax 998cc 60° V-twin that made 128hp at 9,500rpm. 189kg.

2002 1000 RSV Tuono

The Tuono (Thunder) was very closely based on the 2002 RSV Mille. The main differences were the upright riding position and the removal of most of the bodywork. A steering damper was fitted. 126hp at 9,500rpm. Dry weight 183kg. Top speed of 250kph.

2003 1000 RST Futura

Built from 2001 to 2003 the RST Futura used a detuned version of the RSV V-twin motor putting out 113hp at 9250rpm. While also based on the RSV frame the Futura's differed in several dimensions and featured a single sided swingarm.

2004 1000 RSV-R Mille

The RSV was substantially revised for 2004 and received an 'R' designation. While based on the previous motor the R unit had redesigned heads (with magnesium covers), new air intake system, revised lubrication and many other changes. It was fitted 4mm to the right in the frame compared to earlier models. There was no provision for a pillion. 139hp at 9,500rpm. Dry weight 185kg.

2005 650 Pegaso Strada

The original Pegaso was introduced in 1993 using a Rotax engine. In 2005 a completely new model, the 650 Strada, was released powered by a Yamaha 659cc motor. 50hp at 6,250rpm. 170kg. 180kph top speed.

2008 850 Mana

The innovative 839cc Mana was introduced in 2008 and showcased an advanced CVT with several electronic ride modes. Operated either in "full auto" with three modes were available: Touring, Sport & Rain or manually via a sequential, electronic "7 speed" system. A parking brake was fitted. Other features included an under seat fuel tank and a large storage area in the normal tank position. 76hp at 8,000rpm. Dry weight 205kg.

2009 250 RSA

Mike Di Meglio's No1 bike was ridden by him in the final ever race of the 250 World Championship at Valencia in 2009 (Moto2 taking over the following year). It is a full factory bike, leased to Team Aspar-Mapfre, then returned to Aprilia at the end of the season. Apart from the wheels & tyres it is untouched from completing the race (in 14th). The main difference from the 2008 machine was the use of the APX2 ECU which (apart from the relevant 2-stroke settings) was the same unit as used by the MotoGP bikes. RSA specific parts include chassis & carbon swingarm and DellOrto VHSK 42mm PWM carburetors. A Ohlins TTX factory front fork is used. Power 110+hp.

2010 750 Shiver

Introduced in 2007, the Shiver was the first clean-sheet design of the Piaggio era. It was one of the first motorcycles to feature a ride-by-wire throttle. The 2010 model differed from earlier versions in having a small handlebar fairing, wave front discs & revised foot peg mounts. 95hp at 9,000rpm. 190kg. Top speed 210kph.

2012 RSV4 Carbon

One of the 20 Carbon Special Editions built exclusively for the Australian market in 2012. Compared to the RSV4 Factory APRC, the Carbon features Aprilia Racing triple-layer carbon fibre/Kevlar/carbon fibre bodywork, Akrapovic Titanium exhaust system, DPM Race billet alloy rear sets, levers and other parts, remapped fuel injection, uprated Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes, Pirelli Supercorsa SP tyres (extra set supplied) and other parts. A weight saving of 10kg over standard is achieved. Non standard, but factory accessories on this bike are the sprocket cover & chain guard. 138hp at 12,500rpm. Dry weight 169kg.

2013 ART GP13 CRT

The Aprilia ART GP13 CRT bike was at its most competitive in the 2012-13 seasons, before EPUs were standardized across MotoGP. The Claiming Rule Team class was introduced to increase the number of bikes on the grid (and increase the spectacle. The bike was basically a modified WSBK RSV-4.

This is Aleix Espargarò's Team Aspar bike from the final race (Valencia) of the 2013 season. He placed 11th in the championship - 1st in the CRT class, with six top ten finishes. Output is over 230hp. Dry weight 165kg. Top speed over 330kph.
