DKW introduced the Hobby scooter in 1954. Power from its 74cc two-stroke engine was delivered via a semi-automatic gearbox with belt drive to the rear wheel.
Fitted with 16" × 2.50" spoked wheels, it had drum brakes front and rear and telescopic front forks.
The Luxus version of the Hobby had a pillion seat and extra chrome. In total some 40,000 were built, and when DKW ceased production in 1956 the Manurhin concern continued production of a licenced version in France.
