THE FAMOUS JAMES No. D1 500 c.c. O.H.V. TWIN MODEL

The "James" No. D1 500 c.c. O.H.V. De-Luxe Twin has been designed for those riders who desire a really fast yet comfortable and luxurious machine. We have no hesitation in recommending this model, which will adequately meet every demand which the most critical rider may require. The overhead rocker gear has received very special consideration, and although it is light it is exceedingly robust, and will stand up to long periods of hard riding without the engine losing its tune. For 1932 season improvements in specification have resulted in the production of a fully equipped luxury model with superlative finish and mechanical efficiency of the highest class. A James design and manufactured job throughout.

SPECIFICATION

ENGINE "James" design and manufacture O.H.V. Super-Sports Twin, 64 x 77.5 mm. 498.6 c.c. Aluminium alloy pistons, detachable heads. Enclosed push rods.

CARBURETTER "Amal" twist grip control.

IGNITION High tension magdyno.

LUBRICATION Mechanical duplex pump, with adjustable sight feed and improved "James" patent system.

SILENCER Two large expansion chambers, with baffle plates, large diameter pipes and fishtails.

GEAR BOX UNIT "James" design and manufacture three-speed, with multi-plate clutch, handlebar control and shock absorbers.

TRANSMISSION "Renold" roller chain, oil bath gearcase to front chain.

BRAKES 7 in. diameter, front and rear, fabric lined, very powerful, with weather protectors, very efficient shock absorbers in rear hub.

FOOTRESTS Adjustable to convenient position, large rubber pads.

FRAME "James" low built, perfect steering, integral sidecar lugs, low saddle position.

FORK "James" pattern with shock absorbers and steering damper. Easy and safe steering at speed.

HANDLEBAR All clean adjustable sports type, rigid attachment.

WHEELS 26 in. diameter, well section rims, heavy spokes, Timken bearings.

TYRES "Goodyear" heavy duty. 26 x 3.25 in. W.O.

MUDGUARDS Wide and well stayed, deep domed car section, front well valanced.

STANDS Front and rear, independent attachment, spring-up rear.

TANKS Patent welded steel, saddle type, large capacity. Finish in nickel chrome with royal blue panel, gold lined. Optional finish to order—superfine black enamel, lined with 22 ct. gold, or enamelled "James" brown, two shades, gold lined. Separate oil tank.

SADDLE Multi-spring seat (Terry).

EQUIPMENT Lucas 6 volt electrical equipment, large head lamp with double-dimmer and tail tamp. Steering damper, knee grips, good tool kit, tyre inflater, electric horn and licence holder.

FINISH brilliant black enamel on rustproofed surface, Nickel chrome finish to bright parts throughout. Small details Cadmium rustless finish.
