The JAWA Ice racer incorporating the type 891 motor.

This particular machine* was ridden by Joe Hughes when competing in the 1974 and 1975 Ice Racing Championships whilst he was the Captain of the Great Britain Squad.

This model was designed for ice racing on tracks of up to 400 metres maximum length. Its frame is welded of quality steel tubes, the construction ensuring extra rigidity in all the directions of stress. The front fork is carried in two self lubricating bushes and protected against dirt penetration by two sealing "O" rings. The front fork employed is the CZ motocross type with limited suspension travel, modified abutment and damping and its springs are strengthened by means of air pressure charge in the fork. The friction type steering damper was replaced with a hydraulic unit. The modification served to improve the handling.

The gearbox is located between duralumin sheets and bolted to the frame. Employed is the existing box with minor modifications for longer service life. The gearbox is two speed controlled by lever on RH side.

In 1987, several modifications were made to the 891, with the machine now being labelled under the model of 891.9. Below are the specifications for the 891.9 model.
