In 1952, the Frenchman Georges Monneret built an "amphibious Vespa" for the Paris-London race and successfully rode it across the Channel.

Saw this video and it brought back memories of the Sixties. I knew Andre and helped with his Cooper Formula Junior and Lotus Cortina. He was a great guy and fun to be with.

He was a very good saloon car driver as well, he had a car dealership in Northampton. Raced a Lotus Cortina. He set up shop in Northampton near the racecourse.

Georges Monneret (French Vespa dealer also) in October 1952. He build special accessoiries for Vespa, for instance an additional tank below the passenger seat.
