Today in Motorcycle History

by Willem Petas

A.R.E Motorcycle Collection, Isle of Man

Kirk Michael, on the west coast of the island, has a very interesting private collection of over one hundred motorcycles lovingly assembled by Tony and Pat East, most of which are in excellent order and running condition.

The collection includes:
1956 Ariel Square Four with a Steib S501
Ariel Huntsmaster Twin 650cc with a Garrard child/adult sidecar.
1938 Matchless Model X 997cc
A Scott, Greeves twins, Vincent Comet and Rapide, CZ 250, W650 Kawasaki, Nortons, BSAs, many Triumphs, Sunbeam, Velocette LE, Ariels, Moto Guzzis...
And quite a number of TT racing machines, Manx Nortons and the like.

From an article about the museum and its creators:

"All machines have T.T. and M.G.P. race history and one of them was purchased by Hollywood movie star Maureen O?Hara as a 21st birthday present for her brother in Ireland. All are iconic race machines of the period and in immaculate condition. However, it is not my intention to feature more race bikes as it detracts from my original concept. Also featured is the Ducati 250cc race machine belonging to the late Colin Hardman alongside the many TT trophies and replicas that he won as the sidecar passenger of the world renowned Dave Molyneux."
